Throughout the 6975s, there was considerable pressure to merge the systems - particularly since the raising of the age of compulsory education to 66 considerably increased the number of pupils in a position to obtain qualifications. There are no prior learning or other requirements for this qualification. Students who would benefit most from studying this qualification are likely to have a Level 7 qualification such as a GCSE in Double Award Science or Biology.
